I never stay up this late. It's the middle of the night, or maybe early morning. The crickets are still, the last bit of summer that's still hanging on, but my entire neighborhood is dead quiet otherwise. For everybody else, the day is over. Almost over for me, too, even though I've had a lot to get done.
Mentally ticking off my accomplishments makes the day seem longer in retrospect. All of my stuff from around the house has been packed up. Most of my belongings have already been shipped off, destined for San Francisco. All that's left is some clothing, toiletries, a couple of pictures I wanted to keep up until the very last minute. All of that will go into two suitcases that are sitting on my bed right now, just waiting for me to finish up the last of my business here.
